OH! The Places You’ll Go.. Dent Island Adventures

The People You Know ~ The Places You Go. Dent Island - Anna Johnston. www.shenannagans.com

When I first arrived at Daydream Island I remember writing myself a mental list of all of the different thingsΒ I wanted to do whilst here. Snorkelling, ocean rafting, kayaking, paragliding, skydiving and of course…. eating and drinking all the local delights because eating and drinking is totally a leisure activity, right?

Being someone who enjoys ticking things off my bucket list, I jumped at the chance to escape to Dent Island, a 10 minute ferry ride from Hamilton Island in a little place they call the Whitsundays, aka, heaven.

Some of the Events Team from Hamilton and Daydream Islands got together for the day to explore Dent Island and lunch at The Clubhouse.

WOW! #lovewhitsundays

I am not a golfer. But if you are a golfer then your Whitsunday adventures must include Dent Island which has been turned into a full golf course. Dent Island is extremely hilly, which I would think would be a drawback for golfing but what do I know? The hillyness… real word, gives you the opportunity to take in the most breathtaking views of the Whitsundays and beyond.

But if golfing isn’t really your idea of fun then the $69.00 Clubhouse 2 course lunch is another Dent Island highlight, and includes a tour of the island on golf buggies and lots of photo opportunities.

All rostered days off should totes include a little shop talk, a lot of girl talk and much laughter. Medicine for the soul!

Hi Anna, it’s been a while. I am so inspired by your penchant for wonderful adventures and ‘roamings’. You are having a blast each time I ‘see’ you, making your dreams come true. Now, you are off in warmer climes! It’s hard to keep up with you, girl! πŸ™‚ I just wanted to wish you a wonderful 2017. May it be all you want it to be. Love and blessings, Irene xxoo

It still upsets me that I never got to the Whitsundays. I lived in Australia during the awful flooding a few years ago and there was no transport going there for ages. I missed out! Dent Island looks beautiful. I’m not a golfer but I’d manage to idle away a few hours here. I will go back one day and this is on the list

This is a perfect getaway, seems you people had a great time out here.
Keep posting such unknown places, this will really help out travelers like us to know about the location.
Cheers πŸ™‚

Not much of a golfer, but I think I could manage this trip, somehow!! Favourite island destination = Maldives… there’s nowhere quite like it <3 Plus Lord Howe Island, in Australia – I've got very fond memories of that place from when I visited as a child πŸ™‚

Wow, such a beautiful place! I must confess, I had never heard of Dent Island before and now I feel very silly. I’d love to go there!

I am not a golfer but the amazing views and yummy food are totally my kind of thing. Definitely would love to visit.

Such a wonderful offbeat place! Reading about this place for the first time in a blog. I am not a golfer so I think I will indulge in the lunch πŸ˜› πŸ™‚

What a gorgeous place! It looks like you guys had a ton of fun. This is kind of a mean thing to post when it’s so cold outside though πŸ˜‰

I’m not a golfer, but I wouldn’t mind exploring this golf course, especially if the tour is done by golf buggies! And all of the food looks amazing, so to explore, eat, and spend the time with friends sound like the perfect day. πŸ™‚

I’m all about golf courses and drinking beer at golf courses. They’re really just so pretty. But, where is Dent Island? I mean, what country? I don’t think it’s noted, unless I missed it. πŸ™

Dent Island is gorgeous! Count me in for anything that has to do with open Water and good food. Not much of a golfer myself but would have no problem keeping the seats warm in the clubhouse with a nice glass of wine.

What a fun afternoon on Dent Island. I must admit, I’m not much of a golfer myself, so I too would head straight for a golf cart tour and lunch at the club house! The food looks really nice, especially that salmon. I’m also writing this on an empty stomach, which probably isn’t helping!

Your post made me to add one new place to my bucket list! The place is amazing and the food is perfect!
Hugs from Croatia!

Love to see the clear blue sky and lovely pictures of you and your friend. Cheers

I am dying over that teriyaki salmon! It looks divine and I enjoy salmon. It’s not a very common fish where I live though, so I rarely see it on a menu unless I go to a sushi restaurant.

This brings back amazing memories of sailing around the Whitsundays and falling in love with Whitehaven Beach. Unfortunately it was in the days when I was broke so I had no budget for some of the more glamorous islands but definitely want to go back one day and indulge

I’m not a golfer, though I sometimes wish I did play – it looks so relaxing and is a great excuse to go visit lovely places!

What a lovely post. I had fun reading this post of yours as it really shows how you enjoyed the escapade with your friends. Cheers to more! xx

This looks like the perfect getaway! I personally would love to take my husband here to golf and enjoy some of the cuisine you pictured! Thank you for putting this on my radar. πŸ™‚

Pretty sure I’d lose Drew to the golf course. Although can’t say I’d mind at all chilling in the clubhouse and wandering the island taking in those incredible views for the day.

Well, I’m not a golfer, but I am an Aussie! I’ve ticked a lot of things off my list this year. Northern lights in Sweden, summer in Spain and visiting relatives in Cornwall to name a few. Happy travels!

Hugo Cura - December 18, 2016 Reply

Not a Golfer but definitely can appreciate the beautify of some Golf courses and this is one of them. Super scenic island! I would probably prefer just to drive the golf cart around.

Bucket list keeps growing!

Wonderful! I do love the Whitsundays – such a unique and special part of the world. And the weather! So good. Lovely to see you all in summer clothes with a backdrop of blue water and skies. I haven’t been to Dent Island but it sure does look hilly. I wouldn’t mind one of those fancy-pancy G&Ts. The lunch looked beautiful xx

Quenn Suebah - December 16, 2016 Reply

Oh the colour of the sky and the ocean are heavenly. I can’t wait to see it all, but for now it’s the best just to see your pics. Keep ticking off those bucket list goals kiddo.

I remember this little gem from our trip to Hanilton last Easter. From memory there’s also a similar lookout with sunset cocktails & golf buggies, zipping around. The food, the company & that incredible view all look so awesome. It’s so wonderful to see you in your element Anna!

Evelyne CulturEatz - December 15, 2016 Reply

SO you went from paradise to heaven? What next, that is not fair;-) What a gorgeous place and wow on the food. I’ll just a golf cart beauty and not play.

Mabel Kwong - December 15, 2016 Reply

The more I see of this place around you, the more I am convinced it is heaven! That blue sky, that blue ocean, what an amazing, fresh and warm place to be. I hope you are lapping it all up, Miss Anna!

I don’t golf at all and have no interest in it. But I wouldn’t mind tagging along with someone who golfs there just to take in the sights and soak up the sunshine. And of course, to try the food over there. That dessert looks out of this world, a little sweet heaven right there and then on that place. I hope you enjoyed every morsel of it.

I haven’t achieved much this year to be honest, but it is never too late to start planning ahead. Which is what I’m going to do over the next few weeks πŸ™‚ Lots of love, bug hugs and kisses to you bis sis xoxoxo

Anna, hon, what a wonderful time! You are enjoying so many wonderful adventures. Savour them all!
My Pete golfs – me, I drive the golf cart. That’s the extent of my golfing. πŸ˜€
Have a beautiful day sweet Anna.
Sunshine filled hugs to you.

Oh my goodness, your trip looks FAB!!! I love the food pics and oooh the golf carts (I finally drove my first one last week hehe). My favorite destination is Cancun, from whence I have just returned! Those blue skies, shimmering waters…I could stay on an island all day. Good on you for these adventures, girl!

My bucket list is a never ending evolving list so yes and no in answer to your question! I’ve never heard of Dent Island but it looks gorgeous (and golf buggies to get up those hills-yay!)

John/Kitchen Riffs - December 15, 2016 Reply

I’m an totally not a golfer. Love golf courses — they’re so much fun to walk — but you really don’t want to be within a mile of me when I’m swinging a golf club. Truly awful. I think the 19th hole is more my speed. πŸ™‚ BTW, I’m taking off the rest of the year, so I’d like to wish you happy holidays!
