A Round Up – My 15 Favourite InstaFoodie Pics of 2015

A Round Up - My 15 Favourite InstaFoodie Pics of 2015 - Anna Johnston - www.shenannagans.com

Be honest now my InstaFoodie friends, how many times did you stand on a chair to get the perfect birdseye view of your breakfast? Bonus points if you did this in public! Are you guilty of re-arranging a dish, claiming somebody else’s meal as your own, or requesting your fellow diners wait to eat their food so you can snap their dishes too? YUP…. 5 big fat YES’s from me too!

2015 involved a whole LOT of eating, chomping, tasting, savouring, snapping and social media sharing for shenANNAgans, I put away around 1100 plates of food #oinkoinkoink this year. Solid effort, right?!

As I end this year and move on to the next, I have taken a bit of time to review, to contemplate, to meditate, to honor the year that was, and boy was it a tasty one. So without further ado, I bring to you a round up of (in no particular order) my 15 most fabulous, most favourite InstaFoodie accomplishments of 2015. I hope you enjoy the #foodporn.

I’d love to know your Instagram handle (mine is @annaJ31), along with the url/s or explanation of some of your top 2015 InstaFoodie experiences in the comments below.

    Happy New Year Sarah. 🙂

mjskitchen - January 6, 2016 Reply

I have to admit that I’ve never done any of the above. When I go out and the food is put in front of me, my instinct is to eat. 🙂 Not the normal reaction of a foodie, but I do love eating! Of course now seeing what you do with all of these pictures, I should start pulling out my camera. What great shots! They make me hungry!

    Anna - January 7, 2016 Reply

I am SO impressed MJ! That whole eating my food, skip the photo concept very rarely happens. I should attempt it more often. 🙂
Thank you, I am pleased you enjoyed my pictures, and that you feel the hungers now too. Ha!
    Happy New Year!

Delicious! You do take the most amazing food photos Anna. Can I ask what camera you are using? Wishing you every happiness and success in the coming year. Now I need to go have a snack. 🙂

    Anna - January 6, 2016 Reply

Why thank you Sue, that is very kind of you to say! All these photos were taken with my IPhone 5s, which is perfect for lunch dining, but not at all good for dinner, moody lighting in restaurants. Ha! If I can take my plate outside or close to a window for some natural light, I will. 🙂 Wishing you a super 2016 too Sue, I do hope it is filled with all the awesome, fun, creativity and deliciousness. Enjoy your snack! 🙂

All lovely, but I love that first one with the fruit – just what I need right now!!

Happy New Year, Anna. I didn’t realise I wasn’t following you on Instagram so thanks for triggering me to action. I’m now a follower. I haven’t yet stood on a chair in public to take a photo but I think you’ve inspired me! xx

    Anna - January 3, 2016 Reply

HAPPY NEW YEAR to you Charlie! Oh that’s awesome, I didn’t realise we were not Insta buddies either, thank you for fixing that. 😀 Hahaha…. I only did/do the chair stand when I am hanging with the food bloggers, it isn’t something I do when I’m out with friends or family, although….. Haha! Wishing you a brill 2016 love, looking forward to reading your delicious posts. Xx

Norma Chang - January 2, 2016 Reply

Your post is having me drooling, on my way for a towel to dry my keyboard. Just had dinner and I am hungry again from looking at all those food photos. May you have many more good eats this year. All the very best for the New Year.

    Anna - January 3, 2016 Reply

Haha… I love that, thank you for the kind comment Norma. 🙂 I too wish you a year of delicious eats, and all the fun and love too. Happy New Year. 😀

Maureen | Orgasmic Chef - January 1, 2016 Reply

I’m guilty of 4 of those. I’ve never claimed ownership of someone else’s food but it’s a terrific idea.

Your Instagram photos make me happy and hungry all at the same time.

Happy New Year!!

    Anna - January 3, 2016 Reply

I LOVE that you’ve done the chair shot before Maureen, feeling the prouds and a whole lot less dorky if blogging royalty are admitting to it too. Ha! I’m pleased my pics make you feel good, that’s the best! Wishing you a very happy new year too! Xx

      Maureen | Orgasmic Chef - January 10, 2016 Reply

I stood in a chair at Peter Kuruvita’s Beach House restaurant at the Sheraton in Noosa to take a photo. I don’t know shame. (it WAS a sponsored post at their request, but still…)

Mabel Kwong - December 31, 2015 Reply

So much delicious food, Anna! All well shot. Lol, I’ve actually never seen anyone standing on their chair to get a clear, top down shot of the their food…which would explain why my food photos never look like yours. I am going to try that technique some day. Thanks for the tip 😀

I’ve always wondered how do you eat a sushi burger. I’ve had one of those before, a soft shell crab one that was handed to me in between a piece of paper, so I ate it like how I would eat a half-wrapped burger. It was messy, and then I realised eating it with chopsticks or utensils was much easier 😀 Also, yes, sexy squid. Squid is always sexy!

Best wishes to you for the next year, Miss Anna1 Looking forward to seeing more food and travel photos from you. Big hugs and kisses your way <3 xoxox

    Anna - January 3, 2016 Reply

You are the best, most wonderful, most lovely little sister a gal could ever ask for. Thank you Miss Mabel for your thoughtful and very kind comment. 😀

If you don’t feel comfortable standing on a chair in public for a good shot, just stand up, I have been known to get everyone to all look one way, I stand up and snap away and no one notices me being a cheeky Insta snapper. Lol!

I used a fork to eat my sushi burger, but perhaps if the ‘buns’ were in nori, it would hold together better? I will have to experiment a little more. And yes, sexy squid is tha business. Soooooo good! 🙂

Oh yes, I do hope you have a magical year filled with much inspiration, adventure and deliciousness. Giant big squishy hugs and love headed your way. Xoxox
