Smoothie Operator – Beetroot, Ginger & Orange Smoothie

The countdown until my weeks of fun in the sun in Asia town is officially on now. #winning  Although, not gonna lie, the thought of putting my swimmers on is a tad daunting, especially as I have a month of parties and festive food eating and boozing to get through.

I figured getting my vegan smoothie drink on, and hitting the Bikram yoga studio (90 minutes in 40c heat) multiple times a week would be a fabulous way to rid that spare tyre, and ward off any weight that may be considering taking up residence on my thighs too.

This officially is the best beetroot smoothie I’ve made, I’d suggest going easy on the quantity of beetroot you put in the smoothie if you’re not big on vegetables in your drink, as it can taste a little ‘dirty’, a small amount really does go a long way.

I reckon the beetroot smoothie is super easy, super delicious, super satisfying, sweet, earthy, and revitalising too.

Preparation time: 10 minutes
Cooking time: 
0 minutes

1 small beetroot
2 apples
1 frozen banana
2 large oranges
1 healthy knob ginger

Step 1: Peel & chop beetroot

Step 2: Deseed the apples

Step 3: Peel the banana

Step 4: Peel & deseed the oranges

Step 5: Peel the knob of ginger

Step 6: To create this big glass of kick-butt, surprisingly delicious, bright fuchsia pink cheerful smoothie, simply blitz your ingredients in your juicer. I have a Nutribullet, it completely breaks down ingredients, leaving the fibre, and not the chunks. Pour over ice and gulp down the goodness.

I cannot wait to follow you on your Asia adventures! I’ve tried yoga ONCE! (oh my.) but am not really into it. I’m more of a cardio exerciser as I feel for my body type, that’s the best way to get rid of the spare tires haha šŸ™‚ No fancy tricks here, just good old exercise and avoiding carbs and sweets (as much as I can) prior to said holiday.

Wow – that is one hot pink drink! It sounds delicious, though so I’m going to give it a go. What doesn’t sound delicious is Bikram yoga – I really don’t get that. I always thought that yoga is supposed to be calming, strengthening and meditative – not an endurance sport.

    Such a delicious drink, goes down super easy too, which I credit to its prettiness. šŸ™‚
    Well yes, it is a rather intense form of yoga, but for me, I get the calm, I absolutely get the strengthening and the teacher constantly says it is a 90 minute open eye meditation, so tick on all 3. LOL! It’s not a yoga for everyone, but I really love it. šŸ™‚

Love the smoothie! I will drink anything with ginger in it. I used to do Hatha yoga and it makes such a difference to body shape. Sure you will look great in your swimmers šŸ™‚

I’ve been very wary of bikram yoga as I’m not sure about exercising in all that heat but a friend of mine had a shocking skin condition that developed all of a sudden. His face was covered in red welts. Doctors had no answers and anything they prescribed was of no use. He started doing bikram yoga and his skin cleared up – no word of a lie. He hasn’t had an issue since. I do love to start the day with a smoothie and you have some great flavours in this one. I’m also trying to get my bikini body knocked into shape! It’s a struggle xx

So Fresh.

I am all about the smoothie at the moment. I recently bought the knock of version of the ‘magic bullet’ and it is amazing.
I have been making the following smoothie;

Beetroot, shredded Coconut, LSA nut mix, scoop of protein (chocolate of course) and the rest with water. Amazing. Such an awesome way to kick the day off, get your hydration on, and ready the body to look gooooood. šŸ™‚

Not long now until the holiday now Anna. I must admit, I am looking forward to hearing about your adventures and seeing the photos.

What a refreshing and healthy drink — full of antioxidants. I have tried yoga but I decided the thing is not for me. But keeping doing it, Anna. For those who love it, it is a great exercise for both body and mind.

Oh I was just talking to someone about Bikram yoga. She was telling me that there is also hot yoga that isn’t as hot as Bikram. I haven’t tried either but you look like you definitely know what you’re doing there!

    Haha… I was a bit the same before purchasing the nutribullet, but is a total gem, does the job quick smart, and it is super easy to clean too. I know there are products that do the same job and are cheaper, but they don’t seem to do what the bullet does.

How cool are you in your yoga pose – think I would fall flat on my face if I had to try that. Last did yoga when we were living in Mauritius. Now it’s just running and cycling and arm and tummy exercises at home – really nothing is helping the cellulitey arms though -I refuse to believe it is an age thing. Urgh.
I have to scratch my juicer out of the back of the cupboard and get cracking with some juicing – beetroot and carrot was a favourite of mine zillions of year ago. šŸ˜€
